24-Hour Blood Pressure Monitoring
Up to 20% of patients with completely normal blood pressure values have elevated blood pressure when they come to have it checked by their doctor (so-called “White Coat” hypertension). Measuring patient’s blood pressure during a 24 hour period is particularly useful for identifying the influence of physical activity and daily life stress on blood pressure, assessing apparent drug-resistant hypertension and reinforcing the requirement for anti-hypertensive drug therapy to keep blood pressure levels within the appropriate ranges.
Here at The Hub Medical Centre we have a state-of-the-art blood pressure monitor which is a watch like device. It is fitted by one of our experienced nurses in the morning, from Monday to Thursday. The device measures your blood pressure at a set sequence for a 24 hour period. Patients return to the surgery the next morning for the blood pressure readings to be downloaded into their medical file for follow up and discussion with their own GP.
For your convenience the fees are the same for each of the doctors. The Hub Medical Centre is a mixed billing practice. Pension card holders over the age of 65 and children under 16 years are bulk billed.
For all patients who do not fall into the above category. A standard consultation fee is $70.00. A long consultation is $125.00. Please contact one of our friendly receptionists if you would like an estimation of fees for other services. Please present your valid Medicare card at each appointment. The Hub Family Medical Centre charges a $25 non-attendance fee for appointments missed.
Our practice is committed to preventative care. We may issue you with a reminder notice from time to time. If you do not wish to be a part of this system, please let us know at reception.
The Hub Family Medical Centre has strict infection controls in place to avoid risks of disease or illness transfer, including autoclaving of medical instruments. Patients with potentially contagious conditions or low immune systems can wait in a private area to be seen.
Your medical record is a confidential document. It is the policy of this practice to maintain security of personal health information at all times and to ensure that this information is only available to authorised members of staff.
If you would like more information regarding home visits, please contact one of our friendly receptionists on 07 5433 1500.
Repeat prescriptions may be requested without a consultation. The fee for this service is $15.
The Doctors of The Hub Family Medical Centre are happy to answer patient queries. The best form of contact is to leave a non-urgent message and the doctor will get back to you as soon as they can.
Requests for ongoing or reissuing of expired referrals without a consultation will incur a $20 fee, if the doctor is happy to write without a consultation. Any new referrals will need an appointment to be written.
Practice nurses are available on duty during business hours to discuss any problems, whether a patient of the surgery or not.
